POSITION SUMMARY:
Paint/Body Lead responsible for the repair & refinish of vehicles with damage to exterior body panels as well as keeping up with shop supplies and inventory.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Examine damaged vehicles and devise repair procedure.
· Remove upholstery, accessories, & trim to gain access to repair area
· Acquire parts with parts personnel
· Repair or replace defective mechanical & body parts
· Repair dents with auto body tools (body hammers, stud welder, etc.) & fill depressions with body filler.
· Block sand body filler & apply primer to repaired surfaces.
· Block sand, feather edge primer and mask vehicle for refinish procedure.
· Paint surfaces after performing body repairs.
· Keeping a neat and organized workplace.
· Keeping up with inventory items and placing supply orders as needed
· Managing booth and filters and insuring it is operating properly
· Communicating with Management on items needed in the body shop as well as hot vehicles that need to get ready
· Other duties may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY TO:
· Prepare and repair vehicle according to manufacturer standards.
· De-trim, disassemble, and repair vehicle with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
· Maintain/assist with identifying, and or, sourcing parts and material.
· Work as a team player to ensure on-time delivery of vehicles.
· Meet or exceed productivity standards.
· Work in a fast-paced environment.
· Maintain tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
· Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
SAFETY:
· This position will conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations (such as 6S, Lean Manufacturing, OSHA, etc.). Bring problems to the attention of the Manager, Safety Manager or HR Director.
· Ensures all workplace safety standards and practices are upheld
· May participate as a member of the Safety Committee
ENVIRONMENT:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be temporarily exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts when needed on production floor. The noise level in the work environment is mild and conducive to normal office communication levels.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and use office equipment such as fax, computer, mouse, keyboard, phone, copier.
· Must be able to wear protective equipment including respirator.
