NeuroFit360 ATL is an outpatient clinic designed to help individuals with neurological injuries continue to improve function, health, and fitness, prevent secondary health complications such as skin break down, joint contractures, and muscle atrophy. We are currently looking to fill the role of a part-time (with potential to transition to full-time) Physical Therapy Assistant position.
A physical therapy assistant working in this setting will be involved in working collaboratively with a clinical director and physical therapist to support clients striving to improve physical function and quality of life. Additional tasks include documenting, developing and offering uniquely individualized, intense, innovative, and skilled treatment, and working with families/caregivers to provide best care for clients.
Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Job Responsibilities and Duties
● Follow the plan of care outlined in evaluation by physical therapist, confirm changes, progress and or regress clients adequately within plan of care
● Manage physical condition and symptoms of clients. Review medical history and diagnosis, and movement dysfunction to enhance physical function and promote recovery.
● Develop effective individualized treatment plans that focus on providing intensive, innovative and skilled physical therapy treatments. Educate clients therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition. Assess effectiveness of proposed treatment plans and adjust accordingly. Actively restore, maintain, and promote physical functions while reaching optimal wellness and quality of life as it relates to movement and health.
● Maintain accurate records on treatment, progress, and goals. Report results and outcomes in a measurable manner. Adapt treatment plans accordingly in collaboration with the physical therapist.
● Maintain inventory of equipment and inform management when replenish, repair, or service is necessary
● Maintain professional licenses and actively research and participate in up-to-date evidence-based practice pertaining to client population. Attend educational workshops, CEU courses, and establish personal networks within the neurological and physical therapy community.
Physical Therapy Qualifications and Skills
● Minimum of 2 years as a licensed physical therapist assistant within good standing in respective state
● 1 year of clinical experience working with clients with neurological conditions
● Extensive knowledge of anatomy, neurological injuries, therapeutic exercise and treatment modalities
● Compassion and empathy for clients who are often in pain. Ability to pay attention to detail and understand client’s needs. Capacity to deliver effective treatment while preventing further injury
● Maintain quality of preferred PT/PTA relationship as per standard practice guidelines
● Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with clients, doctors, and family members
● Interpersonal skills to build positive relationships and motivate clients
● Physical stamina to lift patients and spend long hours standing and modeling exercises, and capacity to assist with transfer of client up to 200lbs
