PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
Assists the probate judges by signing final orders, reviewing, and approving reports, presiding over hearings when necessary, providing direction to probate court staff, researching legal issues, providing administrative support, reviewing cases, and drafting legal documents. This position is fully funded by the ARPA grant and therefore will end when the grant funds are exhausted.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Reviews motions, pleadings, petitions, and pleadings filed in Probate Court; researches State Code, and State and Federal law that pertaining legal issues presented; analyzes legal issues related to cases; presents and offers legal opinions, drafts and signs orders; reviews and approves reports and returns required by those appointed by this court as personal representative, conservators, guardians and other fiduciary roles, hears cases, when necessary, provides direction to staff members.
Enters information into department programs and databases; updates database information; creates new spreadsheets/files. Prepares folders; maintains files of research cases, decisions, etc.

Performs other related duties as required.
