Position Summary:
The Project Engineer controls all aspects of an assigned project from the Engineering standpoint. The position works under limited supervision of the Engineering Manager, performs routine daily activities, and gathers and distributes information. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform research and analyses of data such as application engineering proposal, design specifications, drawings, industry codes and equipment manuals to determine feasibility of design or application of equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations to size vessels, piping, valves, and auxiliary systems to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Ensure project-engineering work is completed accurately and on schedule.
- Development of bills of material and shop notes meeting the customer's requirements and the specific requirements of the order in compliance with accepted practices and applicable industry codes
- Coordinate with designers to develop general arrangement and assembly drawings for other departments and the customer. Works with the shop to meet their assembly and shipping requirements for each unit.
- Provide regular updates of engineering status, drawings, BOMs.
- Assists in troubleshooting customer issues.
- Perform shop walks to ensure production meets design requirements during fabrication.
- Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals.
- Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs.
- Assist in management of project permit process.
- Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement.
- Change management, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing actions and change orders.
- Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required.
- Attend project meetings, as directed by Project Manager and record meeting minutes.
- Assist and/or complete project close-out.
- Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-free environment through own actions and mentoring others.
- Maintain accurate contract documents.

Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines:
- Experience with packaging design, skid design, ASME - section 8 pressure vessel design (ASME Pressure Vessel Code, Div. 1, ANSI B31.3, B31.8, B31.4, API 1104, AISC D1.1 et.al.)
- Knowledge of piping and pipe schedules, flanges and fittings
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products; proficient in Excel.
- AutoCAD – Minimum 2 years of experience
- Knowledge of document control and scheduling software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic math/accounting skills; Trigonometry and Geometry
- Functions effectively as part of a team

- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Time management skills and organizational skills
- Ability to read drawings and specifications
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment under pressure
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required Experience: 2 years related experience in Project Engineering and/or Pipe Fabrication
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or related field
