JOB SUMMARY: The Prevention Specialist is responsible for Counseling, Testing, and Linkage (CTL) services to targeted high-risk individuals on-site and in the outreach setting. The Prevention Specialist will take the lead in delivering CTL and PrEP enrollment services to Hispanic/Latino individuals with language barriers. The bilingual Prevention Specialist will also provide translation services to the Prevention Team as needed to ensure Hispanic/Latino individuals gain access to PIHC Prevention services.

Provide HIV counseling, testing and linkage (care and partner services) in a non-judgmental manner and with fidelity to the core elements and components of the HIV Prevention Counseling standards, particularly abiding by all state and federal policies regarding confidentiality of patient information.

Complete testing forms, review for accuracy, and submit documentation in accordance with standards set by PIHC and funding agencies.

Ensure that persons diagnosed as living with HIV are successfully linked to care and partner services by facilitating referrals.

Provides education on post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), ensuring persons eligible for PEP or PrEP if interested are linked to such services.

Screen and enroll Spanish-speaking clients with language barriers into the PrEP program.

Provide effective condom education. Distribute condoms to target HIV-infected persons and persons at highest risk of acquiring HIV.

Assist the Senior Prevention Program Manager and Director of Prevention with preparations for site visits/chart audits by funders, by providing by all state and federal policies regarding confidentiality of patient information.

Remain current on HIV/AIDS and PrEP-related subject matter.
