William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is looking for a 3D Machine Control Modeling Specialist. The individual in this position will be responsible for creating 3D Site Surface Models that are utilized in GPS Machine Control enabled heavy equipment and survey devices and providing analysis of GPS data to team members.
Essential Functions:
- Digitally produce accurate and working 3D Site Surface Models.
- Perform earthwork quantity and volume takeoffs.
- Analyze information from contract plans, specifications, and field surveys.
- Verify that the data issued to the field is accurate, constructible, and per plan.
- Identify conflicts or errors in design data and assist the team with the resolution.
- Update model where applicable.
- Maintain an organized file system.
- Create exhibits to assist in the planning or execution of the work.
- Prepare as-built drawings from topographic data collected on the job site.
- Identify conflicts or errors in design data and assist in the resolution.
- Communicate with team on project updates through collaboration platforms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or possession of a state high school equivalence certificate.
- Proficient in the use of CAD/Design/Takeoff related software required. (i.e. Trimble Business Center, Topcon Magnet Office, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3d, Agtek, etc.)
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of civil construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to interpret the design engineer’s intent from the various project documents.
- Previous construction, construction surveying or engineering related experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
- Understanding of machine guidance equipment & software.
- Strong math and computation skills.
- Formal education in the Surveying or Civil Engineering fields a plus.
- Maintain relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to facilitate the successful completion of the projects.
