Unit: NCHC MCBG MedSurg Adult Oncology 4C, 610000
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
Start Date: 07/01/2024
Job Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 48 hrs
- Weekend Hours: Yes
- Call Requirements: NO, but may be placed on call occasionally for scheduled shifts if over (highly unlikely)
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Certifications: ONS chemotherapy (can obtain after starting), AHA - BLS
Years of Experience: 2 years inpatient oncology experience
Float Requirements: Yes, like skillset
Must-Have Skills/Experience: Med Surg Oncology/Chemotherapy

- Chemotherapy Knowledge
- Inpatient oncology
- Active Immunotherapy Specific/Non SpecificRecognize/manage side effects
- Administration of chemotherapy
- Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- Management/disposal of cytotoxic spills
- Monitor chemotherapy
- Recognize/ communicate abnormal lab values
- Accessing Ports
- Administration of coagulation factors
- Blood/Blood product administration
- Care and management of ports
- Central line blood draw
- Central Line/Implanted Line Care
- PICC line care
- Starting IVs
Medications: Antiemetic, Corticosteroids, Neupogen, Hormonal therapy, Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS), Anaphylaxis, Extravasation injury, Hemorrhage, Sepsis, Spinal Cord Compression, Pain Management, IV push narcotic agents, Medication tolerance/dependence assessment, PCA pump management, Transdermal patches
Type of Patients on Unit: Oncology/Chemo Patients
Professional Knowledge and Skills: Chest tube care and management, Colostomy care and management, Foley catheter insertion/management, Isolation Precautions, Neutropenic precautions, Phlebotomy skills, Telemetry Interpretation, Telemetry monitoring, Tracheostomy care/management, Wound care, Psychosocial Care, Advanced directives, Hospice care, Patient/Family education and support, Withholding/withdrawing treatment, Radiation therapy, External Radiation therapy (Teletherapy), Radiation safety precautions, Total Body Irradiation (TBI), Wound care, Symptom management, Alteration in skin and mucous membranes, Altered mental status, Constipation/diarrhea, Dysphagia, Edema, Nausea/vomiting, Neuropathy, Surgery, Post surgical care.
