Academics/Curriculum
- Assist in managing the academic quality of the school, including ongoing refinement of the Montessori curriculum.
- Monitor and address matters of school climate and culture – specifically focused on student, teacher and parent relations.
- Supervise all Academic and Educational programs of the school (academic, interventions, MTSS, and exceptional children’s program, etc.)
- Monitor curriculum, testing, and reporting to parents; to prepare for and conduct periodic program evaluations.
- In conjunction with the Director and Heads of School, perform Education staff evaluations and observations.
Students
- Drive enrollment and student retention in all programs.
- Design, implement and administer student programs and services, appropriate to the needs of those enrolled and consistent with the values and Montessori philosophy.
- Set standards of participation and achievement in each of the following areas: academic, co-curricular, and student life.
Education
- Select, in conjunction with the HoSs and the Director, and hire properly qualified persons to serve as members of the faculty.
- Participate in the development of the curriculum and assess its effectiveness in the classroom.
- Ensure that the school pursues the highest level of quality educational standards.
- Oversee the daily classroom management and operation.
- Assist in the preparation of the employee handbooks and maintain appropriate personnel and student records.
- Assist in providing and overseeing staff development.
- Observe and provide guidance regarding children in the classrooms.
- Assist in the implementation and direction of the EC program.
- Act as LEA in EC meetings.
- Ensure that the high school curriculum meets state standards.
- Assist in matters regarding the education of teaching staff, retention, and dismissal of personnel; salaries and contracts; job assignments, and performance evaluation.
- Select, in conjunction with the HoSs and the Director, and hire properly qualified persons to act as substitute teachers.
Community Outreach/Parents
- Encourage parent and community involvement through volunteer opportunities and school functions.
- Participate and assist in fundraising.
- Meet with parents as requested.
General
- Comply with all legal obligations and district policies applicable to the school.
- Assist in the creation of school manuals and policy handbooks.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 years in teaching in a Montessori classroom or Administering a school.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience with classroom management, the Montessori pedagogy of the age served, and ensuring students' needs are met.
- Background knowledge of the fiscal and operating needs of a school.
- Montessori Certified Training or extensive experience with Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
- NC Teaching License preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by Washington Montessori, Inc., its Board, its Directors, and the State Board of Education.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
