We are looking for a Forensic Technical Specialist who will be ready to hit the ground running and assist our R&D team who will assist in developing contacts and opportunities by writing journal articles, white papers, posters and technical presentations through interactions with other core members of the Technical Support Team in assisting with customer inquiries, technical phone calls and "on site" support, and traveling with our sales team. Some duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide support to all customer inquiries and sales requests in a rapid and precise manner addressing the customer’s needs.
- Support our technical continuing education program for our Sales Team by developing and maintaining technical sales/distributor training and customer workshops.
- Educate customers and UCT employees as to the appropriate usage of UCT applications and products in addition to supplementary areas of forensic toxicology that are needed for productive sales calls and surface technical exchanges.
- Work to execute the overall R&D goals of the laboratory to include new product development and evaluation in addition to application note development.
- Follow the project plans of the laboratory and R&D Team Coordinator concerning the order that projects are to be performed and established deadlines for such projects.
- Interface when needed with Quality Control regarding designing potential evaluations and experiments that can ultimately improve upon and/or enhance the thoroughness and scope of necessary product testing.
- Initiate and foster SPE application development in addition to generating potential new uses for existing products.
- Take an active role in AAFS, SOFT and other professional groups that will lead to better understanding of the applications of SPE in the Forensic and Toxicological Fields.
- Publish at least twice yearly a scientific paper or poster on a newly developed application for the use of our products
- Keep up on the current trends and new techniques and if possible, apply our products to those applications for comparison.
- Must be available to travel up to 20% of time to include applicable conferences and tradeshows, domestic/international customer visits, and distributor training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong method development/R&D skills for the use of SPE coupled with LC/GC Analysis
- The ability to work in the laboratory extensively utilizing both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS equipment and think independently to solve analytical problems.
- Ability to work with current products and make recommendations on how to improve UCT’s products and their applications.
- Be adaptable to manage multiple projects and tight timeframes and oversee their timely completion.
Education & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in the Forensic Toxicology field with an emphasis on chemical analysis with more at least 3 years’ experience in a forensic laboratory performing forensic drug analysis and method development; master’s preferred.
- Candidates must show an interest in performing Toxicological analysis using SPE products and have a familiarity with competitors’ products.
- Experience using SPE with GC, GC-MS, LC and LC-MS/MS and the knowledge to create new methods, validation criteria, specifications and have a keen eye towards trends in the industry in regard to new analytical method approaches.
