Notre Dame High School, San Jose is the center for women’s leadership in Silicon Valley and has provided an exceptional Catholic college preparatory education for young women since 1851. The Speech and Debate Program
Notre Dame competes in the Coast Forensics League in a variety of individual speech and in debate events including Parliamentary, Lincoln Douglas, Public Forum, Policy and Student Congress.
Responsibilities:
- Teach students the skills required for competition in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate and Student Congress
- Work with the Director of Speech and Debate to set practice/behavior standards required for students to enter tournaments
- Meet with debate team twice weekly after 3:00 PM
- Serve and coach for a minimum of 3 league and/or individual tournaments as needed
- Keep up to date with rules, procedures and judging standards for Debate
- Maintain detailed and accurate files
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts
- Model and support school mission and philosophy of the speech and debate program
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two Years of College Study (AA or Bachelors preferred
- Experience in high school speech and debate
- Familiarity with rules and guidelines for California High School Speech Association
