Job Overview:
The Crisis Line Associate provides critical support to the Crisis Line program by answering calls for approximately 10-25 hours each week during periods with the least coverage, as designated and assigned by the Crisis Services Manager. The primary objective is to enhance the Crisis Line's response capacity.
Responsibilities and Duties:

Answer crisis calls from individuals seeking emotional support, including those at risk of suicide.

Adhere to performance measures in handling call volume efficiently.

Document completed calls thoroughly and accurately.

Participate in staff meetings and supervision, as the schedule permits.

Attend continuing education and training sessions as required.
Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum of two years of professional experience in a call center preferred; previous volunteer experience preferred

Experience working on a crisis helpline is a plus.

Demonstrate empathy and engage in active, non-judgmental listening.

Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Exhibit sound judgment and strong communication skills.

Ability to resolve conflicts appropriately and maintain confidentiality; with a tolerance for diverse beliefs and opinions.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to enhance teamwork across the organization.

Flexibility in working hours and commitment to time obligations

Willingness to learn and accept direction.

Successful completion of Volunteer Befriender Training and assigned learning shifts on the helpline post-hire.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Compensation:
-
$19-$21 per hour, with training paid at $18 per hour.
