Second Shift Hours (2:00pm-12:00midnight) (4)Ten hour shifts with regular weekend hours. Some flexibility can be considered around this schedule.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The Avon Old Farms School is committed to creating a safe, secure environment for our entire school community. A Campus Safety Officer will provide “hands-on” support to maintain a safe school community. The Safety Officer will be a visible presence on campus actively interacting with community members and public visitors. The Safety Officer must be engaging and approachable to build effective relationships with our faculty, staff, students and families. The Safety Officer will support the efforts of the Dean of Students office by actively addressing discipline issues and supporting investigations promptly. The Safety Officer will actively ensure that the student body is adhering to Student Handbook rules and guidelines.
Overall, the Safety Officer will partner with School Administration to proactively address and identify campus safety issues. Provide necessary support to all campus visitors during large and special events throughout the year. (Examples; Graduation, special events, sporting events, summer camps etc)
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain a highly visible and approachable presence, fostering trust and open communication with all members of the school community.

Conduct proactive patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas to deter crime and ensure the safety of the school community.

Investigate/respond to all matters reported to the Office of Campus Safety, such as medical complaints, fire alarms, security alarms, theft, motor vehicle accidents, lost and found property, physical altercations, and/or any other criminal matters, code of conduction violations, etc.

Respond to all police, fire emergency, and medical complaints on campus. Coordinate with and assist responding police, fire, and medical personnel upon their arrival.

Identify, report, and/or respond to suspicious situations/individuals and hazardous environments.

Ensure proper reporting and follow-through of all investigative matters.

Collaborate effectively with the Dean of Students' office to address disciplinary matters, offering timely support during investigations.

Ensure all campus buildings (doors, gates) and areas are secured and cleared of non-authorized individuals.

Conduct and/or participate in Campus Safety Drills.

Operate Campus Safety vehicles during all weather conditions, following the manufacturer’s safe operational recommendations.

Enforce parking/driving regulations using appropriate communication means.

Document incidents and observations accurately and thoroughly to maintain clear records.

Report maintenance problems and submit work orders as necessary.

Be responsible for the proper care and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, radios, keys, etc..

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

10 years of previous law enforcement required.

Must have left previous agency in good standing.

Reliable and dependable.

Ability to connect and relate with student body in an appropriate and professional manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills.
