Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Director of Women and Girls' Voice and Leadership (WGVL) to join our Gender Justice team. The Director will lead cutting-edge programming initiatives, scale effective models, and drive CARE's gender transformative agenda. This role requires a visionary leader committed to amplifying and expanding CARE’s WGVL work, ensuring technical excellence, and fostering strategic partnerships for greater impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management and Supervision:
- Provide supportive supervision for direct reports and manage performance planning, monitoring, and appraisals.
- Recruit and orient key team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Translate the revised GJ strategy into individual work plans and support adaptive change management.
- Maintain grant tracking systems for operational, reporting, and financial tracking of priority projects.
Technical Leadership and Quality:
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and manage project financials.
- Support People and Culture initiatives to institutionalize gender.
- Innovate equitable partnership models, especially with women-led and women’s rights organizations.
- Lead the identification and selection of priority countries to scale WGVL work and engage in multi-country programming.
- Develop thought leadership pieces and oversee quality assurance by senior technical advisors.
Strategic Working Relationships:
- Foster strong relationships within the GJ team and across CARE, including CARE USA and CI.
- Collaborate to identify technical priorities and design scalable actions.
- Support the Education team and integrate WGVL into projects.
- Establish and foster new partnerships to advance CARE’s thought leadership and diversify funding.
Representation, Networking, and Marketing:
- Represent CARE in external forums, sharing evidence-based learning and contributing to thought leadership.
- Cultivate relationships to advance women’s rights agendas and gender transformative programming.
- Develop podcasts and host webinars to promote CARE’s work.
- Engage with donors, emphasizing learning, impact, and innovation generated by the GJ team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of gender-related development work.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of related experience with a combination of global and extensive regional experience.
- Team management and leadership experience, with knowledge of designing and running multi-country, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience and knowledge of designing and running gender-related programs.
- Technical expertise in gender fields and competence in HR processes and practices.
- Experience in driving culture and behavior change.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills.
