Position Description
Title: Shelter Advocate
Supervisor: Director of Domestic Violence Operations
Employment Type: Non-exempt, hourly, part-time
Purpose: The Shelter Advocate is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the shelter, supporting clients with their needs as outlined in this description, and executing tasks assigned by the Lead Advocate and the Director of Domestic Violence Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily shelter operations, provide supervision, and support to clients and their children in activities including meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and transport services using the LCCADV van. Nighttime advocates will assist clients as necessary.
2. Respond to the domestic violence crisis hotline, offering appropriate assistance.
3. Conduct client intake processes and inform clients about the shelter's policies, rules, and guidelines.
4. Collect and manage client data from intake for analysis and reporting purposes to the administrative team.
5. Ensure the safety and security of the shelter by conducting regular checks, educating clients on safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with these policies.
6. Offer clients enthusiasm, encouragement, and support, maintain professionalism, and uphold boundaries with both clients and colleagues.
7. Handle donations, issue receipts, manage volunteers, and document volunteer activities and hours.
8. Engage in all mandatory LCCADV training and continuing education programs.

Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
