The Production Supervisor manages a team of production employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the company policies; responsibilities include directing workflow to meet customer orders.
Responsibilities

Perform first level leadership providing support, coaching and direction to the manufacturing team.

Plan the flow of materials through the department and analyzes production work orders to assign labor and create equipment operating schedules that meet both internal and external needs.

Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment of problem solving and continuous improvement utilizing LEAN Manufacturing principles. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency in the production department.

Facilitate effective sharing of information across production teams, planning, maintenance, and warehouse and customer service to ensure customer deadlines are met.

Interview, hire, and train employees through appraising performance.

Working with ERP system to ensure scheduled orders are completed and inventory issues are resolved, including cycle counts.

Ensure policies and procedures are being followed in a consistent manner.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems to exceed metrics in safety, quality, and customer service and cost management.

Maintains time and production records.

Reward and discipline employees and address safety issues, quality issues or complaints.

Report production, safety or quality incidents and downtime on a daily basis.

Write procedures and SOP's and is instrumental in the implementation and training of the procedures, both new and existing.

Responsible for quality and quantity of production output, and employee training and skills assessment/development.

Interface in collaboration with maintenance, planning, quality control, accounting and R&D departments.

Work with Associate Director of Operations and other departments on improvement or capital projects.

Ensure plant personnel practice safe work habits and follow safety rules.
Required Skills/Experience
-
High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Production Management or related field preferred, and 3 years production experience in a production environment desirable (food manufacturing experience strongly preferred); or related equivalent combination of education and experience.

Practical experience with LEAN manufacturing principles.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

General computer Skills (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.). Ability to learn and use new applications as necessary.
