Responsibilities:
Conceptualization and Ideation
- Generate innovative ideas for engineering, technology, and science products, ensuring alignment with Next Generation Science Standards, educational objectives, and market needs.
- Supports company strategy of providing innovative, profitable, growth-oriented products to ensure our competitive advantage while meeting customer needs
Product Design and Development
- Lead the design and development of products, from initial concept to prototyping and testing, ensuring that products are engaging, hands-on, age-appropriate, sparking curiosity and wonder.
- Conducts testing of products to ensure product meets learning objectives and required safety and compliance standards.
- Writes manuals and instructions for products and kits that are clear and concise, providing visual aids and instructions to ensure an engaging learning experience.
- Identify new components as needed for product and kit development.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, customer service, and operations to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment throughout the product development, product launch, and lifecycle.
- Provides product knowledge and support to sales, customer service, marketing, and operations as needed.
- Monitors and manages product lines to ensure product meets customer needs, quality, and price.
Market and Product Research
- Researches, analyzes, and invests in relationships to understand customer needs and expectations to identify products that meet and exceed those needs.
- Conduct research on emerging engineering and technology trends to integrate cutting-edge concepts into product development.
- Continuously develops product and science education knowledge and expertise, understanding of HST core and potential markets and competitive environment.
- Keep up with the latest market innovations by attending trade shows and conferences.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in science education, science, computer science, or engineering.
- 3+ years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: K-12 science education, technical/instructional writing, product development or other field of science, robotics, technology, or computer science.

- Keen attention to detail and ability to develop, prioritize and manage multiple long and short-term activities and projects.
- Ability to acquire, analyze and act upon a wide variety of data to identify product marketing opportunities and select and develop new products.
- Excellent critical thinking and communication skills, including verbal, typing, and written.
- Ability to research and write science product descriptions, instructions, and specifications.
- Excellent writing skills and ability to write instructions that are geared toward K-12 students.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment including with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations and Customer Experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability and willingness to quickly learn other software tools.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Relocation to Billings, Montana.
- Occasional travel: 5-10%
- Sitting for long periods.
- Use of fingers, hands, arms involving computer work and lifting and carrying of material
- Good close, distance and peripheral vision.
- Occasional long workdays when meeting key deadlines, during critical projects or seasonal peaks.
- Ability to speak clearly and listen carefully.
- Ability to handle stressful situations such as dealing with conflict in a patient and respectful manner.
