They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Real Estate Accountant to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary: The Senior Real Estate Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations related to our real estate portfolio. This includes financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple properties.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial reports.
- Perform variance analysis and explain significant differences between actual and budgeted results.
General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
- Collaborate with property managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for budgeting and forecasting.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Monitor tenant receivables and follow up on delinquent accounts.
Tax Compliance:
- Assist with property tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
Audit and Internal Controls:
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff.
- Provide guidance and support to the accounting team to ensure high performance.
Special Projects:
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Provide financial analysis and support for real estate transactions, acquisitions, and dispositions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in real estate accounting or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
