**Job Description:**
As an Art Instructor at Washington City Community Center, you will play a vital role in nurturing the artistic talents of young individuals, fostering their creativity, and helping them develop essential skills in painting and drawing. You will work with students ranging from elementary to high school ages, creating a positive and engaging learning environment where they can explore their artistic potential and also teach the occasional adult paint night.
**Responsibilities:**
- Plan and execute engaging art lessons that cater to the needs and skill levels of beginning and intermediate students.
- Teach fundamental principles of painting and drawing, including but not limited to color theory, composition, perspective, and various techniques.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression, while catering to the different abilities of each student.
- Provide constructive feedback and individualized guidance to students to help them improve their skills.
- Organize and supervise art projects, ensuring students complete their work successfully.
- Order, maintain, clean, and organize art supplies, including the setup and cleanup of materials.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and adjust teaching methods as needed.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and participation.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during class hours, and be able to use appropriate classroom management.
**Qualifications:**
- Previous experience teaching art to youth, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Strong proficiency in various painting and drawing techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for art education.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain one).
**Schedule:**
This is a part-time position where the schedule may vary depending on program needs.
