POSITION: Director of Accounting and Audits
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time/Leadership Team
EXEMPT/NONEXEMPT: Exempt
SALARY: $110,000 - $125000
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Accounting Operations has ongoing oversight over the accounting audit. procurement, treasury, accounts payable and payroll functions of the agency. S/he has oversight over the financial closing, reporting, compliance and general ledger system.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and coordinates the annual agency audit responding to audit queries, timelines as needed.
- Works and coordinates the agency single audit process.
- Manages and maintains a robust and timely closing process in conjunction with the Controller, Grant Managers and other senior staff
- Organize monthly closing operations in preparation for the generation of the monthly financial reports for financial reporting at program, governance and external levels.
- Prepared and coordinated the ongoing closing accounting balance sheet schedules, expense roll-forwards, financial analysis and accounts payable analysis as needed.
- Assist the CFO with maximizing the impact of the accounting system with the development of templates, reports, and other aspects of the financial system.
- Work closely with management team to foster strong relationships between Finance Department and agency staff. Meet regularly with management colleagues to review financial reports and work through issues of mutual importance.
- Effectively manage and project operational cash flows.
- Prepares a monthly analysis of revenue.
- Coordinates the monthly claims schedule and ensures that all billings are being done in a timely manner.
- Works on a variety of ad-hoc financial reports as needed based on the requirements of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
· A bachelor's degree in accounting is required and an MBA or a CPA is a strong plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10 years’ experience within financial leadership, within a complex multi-services governmentally non-profit organization. Should have experience working with all aspects of the accounting cycle including but not limited to accounts payable and audits. Experience working with a variety of city, state, and federal funding sources essential.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of multi-faceted nonprofit accounting including single audit regulations, allocations, and grants management.
- Well versed with accounting system implementation, knowledge of Intact a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and systems solutions.
- Strong project management and process analysis skills.
- A self-starter with an ability to roll up their sleeves and support staff as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
