In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Nurse Residency Program Educator is responsible in collaboration with the residency coordinator for orientation, program development, education, development, and communication related to nurse residency program. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:

Responsible in conjunction with program coordinator for preparation of new cohort, planning cohort class dates, preparing welcome packets, communication to new hires and unit managers.
- Assist in scheduling clinical graduates, nurse residents, and international nurses’ orientation on units, their preceptors, and mentors.
- Assess new graduate education class, create program content, coordinate education using equipment and simulators to assist in transition of knowledge. Base the education on policy, evidence-based practice, and use a variety of instructional methods and engaging activities to validate competence of nurse residents.
- Responsible in conjunction with the education coworkers and residency program coordinator for initial and ongoing education of a preceptor program and ongoing support of preceptors and mentors.

Responsible in conjunction with the program coordinator for nurse resident orientation meetings, documentation, and communication of orientee’s progress to nurse manager.
- Works cooperatively with nurse program coordinator to be a consultant to leaders to ensure consistency, efficiency, and communication of the nurse residency program, including record keeping, assigning classes, skill assessment, and education course development.

Assists with planning, prep, and certificates for cohort graduation.
- Teach course(s) in their specialty and/or AHA course(s). Maintain standards for AHA and certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and simulation.

Assumes all other duties and education responsibilities as necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or relevant field; or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a high school diploma or GED required.

If a Registered Nurse, must be currently licensed in Ohio and WV (multistate/single state licensure) as a Registered Nurse required.

Minimum of one year of education experience in a hospital education department preferred.
- Maintains compliance in RQI required.
- BLS required upon hire.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:

Verbal and written communication skills, especially ability to provide critical feedback.
- Computer literacy working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Ability to use office equipment such as copiers, scanners, printers.
Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
