Job Title: Associate Building Materials Buyer
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Building Materials buyer is responsible for managing a group or category of products in the Building Materials Division. This includes but not limited to replenishment buying, developing category programs, overall pricing strategy, product sourcing, product range management, relationships with vendors and working with sales and staff to deliver the best program possible to meet our customers wants and needs within those category groups. The associate buyer will also work closely with our Mill on quoting jobs and overseeing orders to ensure inventory and pricing is properly accounted for. Other responsibilities include assisting in inventory control, special order review and assisting in events.
Responsibilities
Manage stock items of assigned categories
· Maintain an adequate supply of all stock items in category
· Locate hard to find items for guests and team members
· Work towards KPI goals for assigned categories
· Reduce X items, overstock and discontinued items.
· Work with Division leader on winter buys, new items and programs.
· Maintain overall pricing strategy for categories across all locations
Mill
· Work with mill leader on quoting mill jobs
· Input and maintain custom skus and door hanging B.O.M. skus
· Oversee door/mill master schedule
· Maintain door hanging and mill related price lists and sales tools
Computer Integrity
· Maintain and update pricing in computer for assigned categories
· Be aware of low margin items in the computer and the reasons for them
· Work with division leader on desired margin for each category
· Responsible for vendor maintenance of assigned categories. (MVR notes, vendor contact, minimums, etc.)
· Maintain sequence numbers for category to assist sales team members
Increase Sales
· Assist in events (Contractors night, breakfasts, training, etc.)
· Maintain Big 10 Book and other sales aides
Inventory
· Responsible for Bargain Basement items
· Getting non committed zz skus to bargain basement and pricing
· Maintaining the bargain basement procedure for building materials
· Special order review
· Reviewing old special orders
· Working with team members on selling inventory of old dot orders
· Assist in sending product back to vendors for credit
