Universal Academy Elementary School Teacher Job Summary
· Elementary teacher will create and administer lesson plans for students that help them develop and flourish throughout the school year. The elementary teacher will teach, coach, motivate and discipline the students.
Elementary school teacher duties and responsibilities
· Designs and presents individual lesson plans in one or more academic subjects using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods.
· Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for students’ current learning levels.
· Prepares materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
· Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines.
· Discusses academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
· Helping students prepare for standardized testing
· Overseeing students during recess, lunch and other activities
· Talking to parents about their children’s progress
· Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including special ed teachers and teacher’s aids, to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis.
· Supervise the behavior of all students in the classroom, hallways, playground, throughout school grounds, and on educational trips.
· Monitors students’ progress throughout the year and evaluates preparedness for next grade.
· Communicates all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and principal.
· Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents.
· Enforces safety and security standards for students, and visitors.
· Collaborate with other teachers in order to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
· Make student observations regarding their strengths, abilities and areas of improvement, and report to parents and specialized educators if necessary for further testing and intervention
· Teach and enforce individualized classroom and playground, hallways and cafeteria rules for order and safety in the school
· Create inclusive environment and maintain classroom discipline

· Complete weekly quiz trackers
· Attend quarterly data meetings
· Complete daily student attendance, enter grades, complete progress reports online
· Talking to parents about their children’s progress
· Document parent teacher communication
· Attend weekly professional development trainings
· Monitors hallways, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff
· Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance, safety drills, incident reports, and other necessary records.

· Concrete demonstrable experience in teaching elementary school
· The elementary teacher will monitor each student’s progress and provide extra mentorship as needed.
· The elementary teacher will work directly with students to ensure the success and development of the classroom throughout the year.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members
· Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
· Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
· State teaching license required.
Skills/Personal Attributes
· The ability to communicate in ways students will understand, as well as with parents and administrators
· Ability to use technology i.e. smart boards, knowledge of Microsoft office
· Communicating and teaching one or more subjects clearly and within the bounds of school procedures
· Confidence speaking in front of groups and enforcing classroom rules
· Create engaging lesson plans and inspire students to learn
· Have adaptability, change teaching style depending on the needs or preferences of each individual student.
· Have the physical and mental stamina to keep up with high-energy grade school students
· Must also monitor each student’s progress and provide extra mentorship as needed.
· Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
