Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and attention to animals in the kennel facility
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their specific needs
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal living spaces
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the supervisor
- Assist with bathing of animals as needed
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules and medical treatments
- Assist with the intake and release process for animals entering or leaving the facility
Skills:
- Aseptic technique: Knowledge of proper sterilization and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment for animals
-Animal handling: Proficient in safely handling dogs and cats.
- Animal physiology: Understanding of basic animal anatomy and physiology to recognize signs of illness or distress
- Dog handling: Ability to safely handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments
- Pet grooming: Knowledge of basic grooming techniques for dogs and cats, including brushing, bathing, and nail trimming
- Veterinary assistant: Experience assisting veterinarians with exams, procedures, and treatments for animals
- Pet care: Understanding of the needs of different types of pets, including feeding, exercise, and socialization
