JOB DESCRIPTION
Tzunu Strategies is looking for a Senior Account Executive who will play a pivotal role in our mission to drive social change and advance public policy through innovative communications work. The Senior Account Executive will oversee a number of accounts for Tzunu, work closely with our clients in leading transformational campaigns, help design and execute creative strategies that shift narratives and engage stakeholders effectively, and project manage communications deliverables. This role will require leveraging strategic thinking, project management and communications skills, as well as knowledge of the communities of color across California to make a meaningful impact. RESPONSIBILITIES
In close collaboration with the Managing Partner and the Vice President of Communications, the Senior Account Executive:
- Leads project management for various accounts with differing levels of complexity, requiring close attention to detail, utilization of project management software, and other tools to appropriately track, manage and deliver on project objectives and client priorities
- Develops external or public relations strategies & tactics to achieve client goals.
- Attends meetings with clients on a regular basis, tracking progress and deliverables.
- Serves as the main point of contact for multiple clients and Tzunu accounts, continually strengthening relationships and offers superior customer service no matter the circumstances
- Meets with and engages clients to discuss goals, objectives, and needs.
- Finalizing and distributing communications materials to internal and external audiences (e.g. news releases, pitches, fact sheets, talking points, presentations, etc.).
- Monitors trends and identifies opportunities to engage or position clients in the public discourse.
- Support in managing the work of communications contractors
- Supports staff in pitching and securing local, regional and national coverage.
- Oversees the development of creative assets and messaging that engages intersectional communities (Black, Latino/a/x, Asian American, Pacific Islander, LGBTQ+, and other historically marginalized communities).
- Organizes and executes timely and detailed client reports.
- Supports new business opportunities, networks and proposal submissions.
- Continuously seek professional development opportunities
- Attend networking events on behalf of Tzunu
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-8 years of experience as an account executive in the public relations or public policy arenas
- Relevant experience in a public-facing capacity (i.e., sales, marketing, public relations, communications, community relations, corporate relations, advertising, or a related field
- Ability to demonstrate successful execution of media and broader communications campaigns
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management skills, including planning for gatherings and meeting deadlines.
- A team player with a collaborative spirit and demonstrated experience in leading team projects
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with an eye for detail
- Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
- Social media management experience for Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc.
- Ability to work effectively and collaborate with diverse constituencies within the firm and a diverse client portfolio
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Adobe, Canva, social and digital media tools as well as Meltwater, TVEyes
- Bachelor’s or vocational degree from a fully accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Policy or a related field.
- Bilingual Spanish speaker is a plus
- Search engine and social media advertising experience is a plus
- Event planning experience is a plus
SALARY & BENEFITS
- Full-Time
- Competitive salary with bonus incentives. Salary range $85,000 - $100,000
- PTO & holidays

- Hybrid office model: Requires ability to work remotely, but with some in-person commitments.
