Overview
The Director of Housekeeping provides leadership and direction to the entire Housekeeping team, aiming to constantly improve guest and employee satisfaction while simultaneously achieving operational and financial goals. This role ensures that guestrooms, public spaces, and back of house spaces are clean and well maintained with a focus on meeting Forbes standards. Our ideal candidate has 5+ years of housekeeping leadership in a luxury hotel property and extensive experience working with the New York Local 6 Union.
Responsibilities
Housekeeping Operations & Customer Service

Develop department goals – support and hold the team accountable to achieve desired outcomes.

Review and inspect guestrooms and public spaces – upholding standards based on TWV’s brand and Forbes Standards.

Own daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensure compliance of policies, standards, and procedures. Delegate responsibilities to optimize departmental performance.

Project and maintain pars for Housekeeping inventory/supply needs to ensure the team has proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.

Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints. Identify opportunities to optimize guest satisfaction and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation, and driving necessary change.

Ensure regular communication including daily pre-shift meetings. Represent the Housekeeping perspective and voice at companywide meetings and advocate for the team when needed.
People Success

Support with recruitment, facilitation of interviews, and selection of Housekeeping team members and leaders. Conduct new hire training and encourage growth and continued training for established team members. Empower team to deliver the highest quality guest experience.

Provide coaching and support to the Housekeeping team. Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and inspire team. Solicit feedback and utilize an open-door policy encouraging transparency and healthy communication. Build and maintain a culture that maximizes guest and employee experience and attracts top talent.

Establish and maintain collaborative internal and external relationships and ensure direct reports do the same.

Celebrate successes and publicly recognize contributions. Participate in team member recognition programming.

Participate in the implementation of corrective action plans. Ensure policies and procedures are followed by the team and when needed administer fair and consistent disciplinary action including documentation of corrective action plans.
Financial Responsibilities

Work closely with Director of Finance & Hotel Manager to develop budget for the Housekeeping department. Monitor financial performance to ensure goals are met or exceeded and opportunities are identified and addressed.

Oversee financial aspects of Housekeeping – including approving purchases, payment of invoices, and payroll. Analyze and process payroll and scheduling in relation to Union agreement.

Plan and execute special projects, including: presentation of ideas, acquiring quotes from vendors, coordinate execution and keeping the team updated on progress.

Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Email) – experience with HMS PMS System, is a plus.

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in a comparable position and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

New York Local 6 Union experience required.
