Behavior Support Specialist II
Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services is looking for a dynamic and experienced Behavior Support Specialist to join our growing team. This position is responsible for developing structured environments and programmatic interventions to support individuals with challenging behaviors. The Behavior Specialist works closely with parents and residential providers to implement behavior interventions, plan activities, and monitor growth and development of the child.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, or Special Education with emphasis in Psychology and Behavior Analysis/Management, or related field
- Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years paid full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in developing and/or implementing behavior support strategies or plans required.
- Ability to obtain Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Service and Support Administration certification (must be maintained after employment).
- Must be able to work from home with reliable internet service.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to referrals as assigned.
- Make on site observations of individuals.
- Develops structured environments and programmatic interventions to support individuals with challenging behaviors.
- Develops and completes functional assessments in order to determine the most appropriate teaching and support strategies.
- Distributes, collects and evaluates assessment data as required.
- Develops behavior strategies within the Individual Service Plan for individuals assigned to caseload.
- Trains staff in teaching strategies and specific interventions necessary to correctly implement and monitor interventions. May be required to train and evaluate interventions on-site.
- Interdisciplinary team member for assigned caseload.
- Provides regular, routine in-service training for direct service staff and supervisors as established by the Board and the Department.
- Develops, revises and evaluates training modules.
- Provides annual refresher training in Personal Safety and Crisis Management.
- Instructs, demonstrates and evaluates emergency and prescribed physical interventions.
- Provides parents, significant others, and residential providers with assistance and instruction in working with individuals with challenging behaviors.
- Acts as general conduct and resource to assigned facility/shift for information regarding procedures, interventions, and positive intervention development.
- Works in cooperation with other agencies to coordinate individual behavior interventions.
- Approved and monitors all behavior interventions for individuals on assigned caseload for effectiveness.
- Works as a team member. Establishes and maintains positive, coordinated, effective relations with clients, families. Board staff, providers, supervisors and others. Performs related duties as assigned.

Pay: $24.72 - $37.08 per hour
