Position Summary:
Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Principal of Instruction (Math/Science) to join our leadership team. The Assistant Principal of Instruction will support the academic success and professional growth of teachers in the Math and Science educators. This role involves overseeing curriculum implementation, enhancing instructional practices, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and high achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
- Provide leadership and support to Math and Science teachers to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Oversee the development and implementation of rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with state standards.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
Teacher Development:
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Facilitate professional development sessions focused on best practices in Math and Science instruction.
- Support teachers in setting professional goals and developing action plans to achieve them.
Curriculum and Assessment:
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement effective formative and summative assessments.
- Ensure that instructional materials and resources are aligned with curriculum goals and state standards.
- Promote the use of data-driven instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
School Culture and Climate:
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes high expectations and respect for all students and staff.
- Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives and programs that enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Address student behavior issues and provide appropriate interventions and support.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the Principal and other school leaders to align instructional practices and goals across the school.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and school events to build strong relationships with the school community.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Instructional coach and manager to several teachers and/or assistant teachers.
- Conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports to monitor progress towards student goals and provide coaching
Administrative Duties:
- Assist with the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
- Manage budgets and resources for the Math and Science departments.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of teachers.
- Participate in all enrollment recruitment events.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: At least 3 years of full-time teaching experience in math and/or science
- Teacher leadership or administrative experience required
- Proven track record of achieving success in the K-12 setting
- Experience managing/coaching others preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Math and Science curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Strong ability to coach teachers on curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
- Ability to de-escalate student behavior
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Certifications
- Texas Principal Certification (preferred).
- Texas Teacher Certification (preferred).
