Overview:
The Intake Specialist will serve as the primary person to conduct participant intakes for the Behavioral Health programs, acquiring pertinent information for the purpose of assessments and level of care assignments. The Intake Specialist will also participate in outreach assignments. The Intake Specialist reports directly to the Program Manager.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Answers and screens inquiry calls and emails from prospective participants.
- Assist in agency outreach efforts to recruit new participants.
- Schedules timely appointments for intakes, and when scheduling permits, accepts walk-ins for intake
- Completes assessments and intake processes efficiently and in accordance with protocols; using LOCATDR and screening tools arriving at treatment recommendations and level of care decisions that are appropriate to participant’s level of functioning and medical necessity.
- Verify all program eligibility criteria.
- Accurately and timely communicates potential and confirmed intakes with appropriate departments
- Maintain good working relationships with all referring agencies, staff, participants and visitors
- Responsible for maintaining census counts and appropriately reporting in OASAS availability systems for all levels of care.
- Completes psychosocial assessments and other assessment screening tools
- Monitor the collection of urine specimens and toxicology results
- Ensures all admission forms are properly signed and stored in ECR
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in a related field of study, MSW preferred
- 2 years of related experience working with individuals with SUD; or an active NYS CASAC or CASAC-T credential with a minimum of 4 years experience in a substance use treatment setting.
- Bilingual/Spanish required.
