Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY
Greet and serve guests in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner in a fast pace department. One will be involved with a set of opening and/or closing procedures and responsible to prepare and maintain pool area. He/she will present food and beverage knowledge as well as other pool services and needs of the guest offering remarkable pool experience. Pool Server will have a designate area per shift, understanding of the kitchen; however he/she will work as a team with the Recreational Attendant and Pool Bartender.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains general knowledge of:

Menu (food and beverage), specials, prep kitchen time per menu item

All hotel facilities/services, enabling server to respond to guest inquiries appropriately.

Activities in order to promote to the guests
-
Knowing the different positions of the pool, respecting those positions, and assisting when needed
-
One needs to be attentive all guest’s time line (arrival, length of stay, and departure). Keeping continuous attend throughout the guest time at the pool. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge to all guests, continue to react before the guests find themselves inquiring.

Take ownership with the assistance of the Recreational Attendant towards maintaining high standards, time awareness, and continuous attention to guest and guest’s needs (i.e. replenish towels, check/move umbrellas, food/beverages, standard refreshments, clearing their space, resetting or moving chairs and umbrellas, take care of guest towels upon their departure...)

Provide the absolute highest quality and presentation of food, beverage, atmosphere and service. Must know and follow the established standards, remain consistent and efficient. Presenting and offering to the guests the Belmond LQA standards (i.e. cool rags, grapes, magazine, water, etc.)

Inspect and report any furniture and areas of concern in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment for guests, vendors, and staff

Keep pool area well stocked and cleaned, wiping down tables and lounge chairs, trash control, dropped food, towels, etc. throughout the day. Complete opening, closing, and side work promptly and in accordance to standards

Quickly address and report any complaints or negatives situations (large or small) to the Activities & Pool Manager or Activity Supervisor.

Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed. Know the pool/activity first aid procedures.

Able to maintain friendly energy through hot climate to rainy days, from slow days to busy non-stop days
-
Promote and maintain strong lines of communication and teamwork between Activity/Pool Department as well as all other departments. Willing to assist in other areas as needed, fosters and promotes a cooperative working environment, maximizing productivity and employee morale.

Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies of Belmond, Inn at Perry Cabin and its Human Resources Department.

Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance throughout their shift in accordance with Inn a Perry Cabin’s dress code and pool uniform.

Be an ambassador of the hotel and the company at all times, in and out of the work place.

Creativity in coming up with an improved suggestion or a new added option for the pool to be presented to the Executive Committee monthly.

Maintain confidentiality and security of all guest and general hotel information.

Available to work average shift between 9:00AM to 7:00PM (subject to change), seven days a week, and through holidays
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Skills

Ability to verbally communicate pool and activity information as well as other department services to guests and basic knowledge of St. Michaels and surrounding areas.

Ability to memorize menus, activities, and work efficiently in all levels/areas.

Ability to work without direct supervision, self-motivated, works well with others, and can compliance with hotel/company high standards.

Ability to access, input, and retrieves information on the computer system/register (Micros).

Ability to focus attention to details. Ability to prioritizes and show organizational skills.

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule according to the needs of the position, Activity/Pool Department, Inn at Perry Cabin, and the guests.

Ability to handle stress, high pace, and work under pressure by remaining delightful to the guests and team.

Equipment to Be Used or May Encounter

Golf Carts, Carts, pool furniture, chair lift, pool bar equipment, telephone, computer, register (Micros System), printer/copier, pool furniture, floating devises, activity equipment, and fitness equipment

A set uniform will be required to be worn and kept clean.
Physical & Mental Requirements

Regularly required to stand for long periods of time, brisk walk to jog pace; frequently required to reach with hands and arms above head; balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Requires manual dexterity sufficient to handle cups, plates, silverware, etc. in small narrow spaces (average 8-10 hour shifts). Requires ability to hear with a lot of surrounding external noise.

Must be able to continuously lift at least 50 pounds and push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of 150 pounds.
Work Environment

Entirety of property—exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, extremes of heat and cold, noise, grease, cleaning and polishing agents; potentially slippery floors; and other mother nature exposures.

The work environment may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, government agencies, etc.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred. Understand and Speak English

Experience in the leisure, food, and recreation hospitality business with customer service in a high-paced and detail-oriented facility.

CPR/AED, Lifeguard Certification preferred and basic outside/pool first aid
-
Administrative and organizational skills desirable.
