Purpose: (General description and summary)
This position provides psychiatric services to New Narrative consumers. This includes assessment, consultative, diagnostic, prescriptive, and educational services.
Accountabilities: (Responsibilities of the job)
Consultative

Provides consultation regarding appropriate interventions and service planning to patients, clinicians, family members, and other identified stakeholders such as legal guardians, peer support specialists.

Is available as needed to consult with inpatient providers.

Is available to clinicians after hours for crisis management, urgent pharmacological intervention, or urgent refill requests.

Participates in case presentation and/or consultation with the clinical team, including Service Coordinators, other medical staff, and outside agencies or funding representatives.
Diagnostic

Provides diagnostic services to all consumers on the identified caseload.

Requests and monitors lab results as needed.
Prescriptive

Writes prescriptions for all patients on identified caseload.

Monitors and manages side effects as needed.

Approves refills, coordinates with pharmacy.

Maintains current orders in the electronic medical record.
Educational

Assists the Treatment Team in identifying training needs for clinical staff.

Facilitates training in areas of expertise for agency employees.
Other Expectations
-
Provides concurrent billing for face to face time spent with patients. The expectation is to bill for at least 55% of time worked.

Agrees to cover for other psychiatric providers as needed.

Coordinates time off with other psychiatric provides to ensure coverage is available.

Works with management to develop medical policy and procedure

Maintains all licensing and registrations and obtains and maintains active Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate.

Education/Certificates/Licenses/Registration:
M.D. or D.O., Board-certified or Board-eligible with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Current Oregon medical license and proof of malpractice insurance. Current DEA license, including controlled substances.
Experience/Qualifications:
Four years post graduate experience working with adults with chronic mental illness (experience during a four-year psychiatry residency satisfies this requirement).
