PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND JOB SUMMARY
The Primavera Foundation is co-creating pathways out of poverty through housing, workforce development, homeownership and financial education, and community building and engagement.
The Porterplays a key role in the upkeep of grounds, amenities, building exteriors, parking lots, and other community buildings of multi-family residential grounds. Ensuring we provide a clean, safe, and professional environment for participants to enjoy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Work assignments may vary depending on the department’s needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by leadership):
- Versatility in general handyman tasks, including repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting across various areas.
- Sweeping, raking, and blowing sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas to keep free of rocks, debris, and trash
- Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve appearance and growth
- Exterior and interior paint touch up as necessary
- Setting up and maintaining safety cones and signs
- Assist in building security, locking and unlocking of doors and gates
- Removal of trash from office areas and apartment community perimeter
- Prepare property trash for city pick-up
- Assist in the preparation of units for new tenants, including removing trash from vacant units
- Preformed assigned maintenance tasks promptly
- Assists in the cleaning of units
- Assists in the repair of mechanical, carpentry, and electrical problems
- Report any maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Manager
- Notifies Maintenance Manager of the need to order supplies/ materials
- Maintain Curb appeal of property
- Ensure that unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with all company, local, state and federal safety rules
- Adherence to and demonstration of Primavera’s guiding principles of integrity, respect, accountability, compassion, and leadership.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- High attention to detail
- Proficiency in painting techniques and materials
- Familiarity with drywall installation and repair techniques
- Experience in groundskeeping practices, including landscaping and maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, fixtures, and safety protocols
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience working as or assisting with carpentry, electrical, groundskeeping, plumbing, painting, HVAC, roofing, flooring, and/ or other related trades
- Ability to work on-call and extended hours
- Must have a current Arizona Driver’s License
- Most possess valid proof of insurance and be an insurable driver through Primavera
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of experience as a general handyman or in a related trade
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- At least one year of experience working with low-income and/or homeless individuals.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand, kneel, and stoop
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in desert climate.
