Responsibilities:
- Ensure working conditions are safe, and proper PPE is being used as required before starting any work.
- Safely drive both non-commercial company vehicles and new automobiles without causing damage.
- Prepare railcar for loading which includes the following:
- Placing plates on all railcar decks.
- Inspecting tie downs and chocks before use.
- Inspecting railcar for cleanliness and damage.
- Input driver identification number and scan in new automobile prior to loading onto railcar.
- Exit new automobiles inside railcar without causing damage.
- Properly tie down and chalk new vehicle onto railcar without causing damage.
- Safely exit the railcar (height: 15-20 feet) using the R.J. Corman required three - point grip at all times.
Education and Experience:
- Valid Driver’s License REQUIRED
- The ability to operate a range of vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
- The ability to perform duties under direct supervision, when given general direction with limited discretion
- Decision making skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of cars and equipment safety
Physical Requirements:
- Requires constant standing, walking, climbing ladders, and balancing on equipment in a safe manner
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Able to navigate and work in confined spaces
- Able to frequently carry and lift 40lbs overhead
- Able to push and pull with up to 204lbs of force to adjust ramps inside rail car
Environmental Conditions: Must be able to perform specified duties outside in all weather conditions. A rapidly expanding company requires employees to be flexible with altering plant operating schedules.
Job Dimensions: Must be able to perform duties under direct supervision, when given general direction with limited discretion. This position does not require supervision of fellow employees.
