Job Title: Temp to Perm National Retail Construction Manager
Duration: ASAP through end of year - potential for permanent hire January 2025
Hours: 40 hrs/wk
Location: New York, NY
Pay: $45-65/hr
Hourly rate is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by JBC.
Main Purpose of Job:
Retail Construction Manager is responsible for all physical store builds to include new store openings, relocations, refurbishments, and temporary space ensuring physical spaces provide the optimal experiences for both the internal and external customer. Owns fully planning cycle end to end process, ensuring all timelines and compliances are met.
Construction Management:
- Manages all construction projects and builds (new stores, concept conversions, relocations, upgrades, repairs).
- Takes a project management approach for all construction projects; clear timeline, objectives, deliverables, roles and responsibilities through Retail Development Tracker.
- Communicates and escalates issues and delays to all stakeholders and creates alternate course of actions accordingly.
- Consults with Retail Operations and any other necessary stakeholders to determine functional and spatial requirements for new structure or renovation, prepares information regarding design specifications.
- Aligns milestones to ensure successful completion of the project within scope and budget.
- Promptly identify any issues or potential issues and devise contingency plans to correct and keep project on track.
- Aligns and engages with HQ throughout project to ensure design integrity.
- Ensures deliverables are within the design intent.
- Drives efficiencies to deliver savings to the bottom line.
Project Leadership:
- Exhibits strong leadership skills in managing team, cross-functional projects/groups, and external partners to deliver the required results.
- Manages construction activity of the boutique up to and including handover to Retail Operations
- Identifies resources needed and assigns responsibilities accordingly.
- Coordinates and manages both internal resources and external/third party vendors during execution of the project.
- Manage relationship with all stakeholders.
- Ensure all items required will be delivered on time and Boutique risk assessment has been completed prior to store opening.
- Documents and formalizes all processes; builds guidelines and creates standardization so that construction projects can be done at scale.
Management (Design and Construction):
- Oversee a team of 2-3 Senior Project Managers to deliver end-to-end execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Oversee National and International relationship with vendors, contractors, and architects to maintain high standards of quality and adherence to development standards.
- Ensure compliance and safety of employees and external partners through established Safety Standards and Procedures
- Oversee Retail Committee and Team of Internal Stakeholders to review and approve all construction projects, layouts and initiatives as they pertain to local needs.
- Developing and maintaining formal retail development procedures and plan tracking.
Data System Management:
- Maintain construction database with legal documents including business license, health department certificates, insurance certificates, and close out documents to transfer completed project to the Retail Operations Team.
- Research and input key materials, global insight, and local surroundings information into the Retail Development Tracker.
- Aligns with local finance team and HQ for capital expense budget.
- Formulate reports and/or trackers concerning such areas as work progress, costs and scheduling additionally as needed.
Key Experiences
Education:
•Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree in construction management or project management preferred
Experience:
•10 years retail construction experience
•5 years luxury retail a plus
•PMP certification a plus
•Proven working experience as a project administrator
