Karl's Cabin Restaurant in Plymouth, MI specializes in rustic American comfort food. Our Chef's take great pride in creating seasonal menus using fresh locally sourced food with generous size portions. Our executive chef owns the business so you will never have less than fullest support to succeed as a manager.
The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Chef Management Team in operating a clean, safe kitchen and dish room facilities while meeting or exceeding food quality and speed of service requirements. Assists in management of the line and kitchen staff prior to and during service and is a positive presence within the restaurant.
Furthermore, the Sous Chef is responsible for working with the Chef to create a cohesive team within the kitchen by leading through example and is responsible for the following duties including but not limited to: troubleshoot and correct production errors, uphold food quality & safety, new employee training, delegating shift and closing duties, making labor cuts to control costs, and special attention paid to proper execution of food during service.
Physical requirements include the ability to exert well-paced mobility for long periods of time and have the ability to bend and squat. Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Requirements: Passion for food, sanitation, organization and teamwork. 5 years line cook experience with ability to excel at all stations (saute, broil, pantry, fry, flat top, expeditor). 2 years supervisory experience. Computer competency. Culinary School a plus.
