Position: Behavioral Health Technician - Detox/Res Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Home
Schedule: Overnight Shift (11 PM - 7:30 AM)
General Duties:
- Client Monitoring:
- Conduct regular rounds to monitor clients’ well-being and safety.
- Observe and document clients' behaviors, mood changes, and physical health.
- Ensure clients adhere to the facility’s rules and guidelines.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or crises, providing de-escalation and support.
- Administer first aid or emergency medical care as needed.
- Notify appropriate medical or supervisory staff of any critical incidents.
- Medication Management:
- Assist with medication administration as directed by medical staff.
- Maintain accurate medication logs and ensure proper storage and handling of medications.
- Supportive Counseling:
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients.
- Facilitate informal counseling sessions to address immediate concerns.
- Document client interactions and progress notes.
- Daily Living Assistance:
- Assist clients with daily living activities, such as hygiene, meals, and personal care.
- Encourage participation in scheduled activities and therapy sessions.
- Support clients in developing and maintaining healthy routines.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Ensure common areas, client rooms, and bathrooms are tidy and sanitized.
- Report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed client records, including incident reports and daily logs.
- Update electronic health records (EHR) with relevant client information.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with other staff members during shift changes.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on client care and program improvements.
- Assist in training new staff and share best practices.
- Security:
- Monitor and control access to the facility to ensure a secure environment.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure all security protocols are followed.
- Address any unauthorized activities or breaches of policy.
- Client Transportation:
- When necessary, assist with the transportation of clients to appointments or other facilities.
- Ensure client safety during transport and maintain proper documentation.
- Program Implementation:
- Support and facilitate the implementation of therapeutic activities and programs.
- Encourage client participation in group therapy, educational sessions, and recreational activities.
- Communication:
- Maintain open and clear communication with clients, staff, and external agencies.
- Provide comprehensive shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
- Address client concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in behavioral health or related field required- RADT or SUDRC
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Previous experience in a substance abuse or mental health facility required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of addiction, recovery, and mental health issues.
- Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations effectively.
