What to Expect
The Process Controls Engineer at Castings will be responsible for developing, implementing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming Process equipment like Molten Metal furnaces, cooling water systems, distributed controls systems, high end instrumentation as well as taking ownership of the Process of such equipment. In addition, the ideal candidate will have stronger interests in contributing to the design of robust and stable equipment, project execution and ramping up equipment until start of production.
What You’ll Do

Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits

Responsible for implementing and managing continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality, productivity and reduce overall waste

Lay out new industrial electrical control panels which are NFPA79/NEC/UL508A compliant, and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics

Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures making updates as required

Implement (ANSI/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding furnaces, pressurized water systems, hydraulic systems, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment

Optimization and improvement of human machine interfaces, SCADA systems and MES interfaces

Architect, develop and debug PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable. PLC code will interact with subsystems such as Pumps, Heaters, Valves, PID Controllers, Gas Combustion systems, and 3rd party equipment

Available to travel for FAT and equipment installation and commissioning
What You’ll Bring
-
Bachelor's Degree in eElectrical, Mechatronics, Computer science or equivalent experience

5+ years of professional controls engineering experience
-
5+ years of advanced PLC programming knowledge in a professional environment including safety controllers Siemens Preferred
-
HMI programming experience – Ignition 8 and Siemens Tia Portal
-
Aluminum Foundry Process experience

In depth knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric code, UL508A) and Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA)

Proficiency selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire, cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD, and servo systems
