At this time, we are looking for someone to fill this role one, two, or three days a week. We are always closed Saturdays and Sundays including major holidays.
Compensation for this position consists of a 23% commission on all daily revenue for the clinic. We are on biweekly pay periods. Our clinic currently schedules a maximum of 20 surgeries per day, the majority of which are cats and small-medium sized dogs. Surgeries consist of spays and neuters with a quick vaccine clinic prior to starting surgeries.
Your day would begin at 6:15 am with surgery check-ins followed by an appointment-based vaccine clinic between 7:00 a.m. - 8:30am. We do not treat or examine any sick or injured patients within the services we provide. Your workday would end once surgeries have finished, which typically occurs between 12:30 p.m.- 1:30 p.m. with the occasional exceptions and your preferred work flow.
Essential Duties
- Perform high-volume spay/neuter surgeries (average of 18-20 surgeries per day)
- Oversee appointment-based vaccine clinics
- Provide quality care to dogs and cats while promoting ongoing development of medical care through continued education
- Delegate duties and responsibilities to technical support staff to ensure proper care and comfort of hospitalized patients
- Stay well-informed of veterinary concerns and trends in the animal welfare movement
Experience & Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD) or equivalent required
- License in good standing with Arizona State Veterinary Board
- Prior work experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- The ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, upbeat, energetic, takes initiative, has good attention to detail, and uses tact and diplomacy
- Able to maintain clear communication with internal staff on all levels. Proven written and verbal presentation skills
- Interest in continuing veterinary education
- Ability to professionally advocate Homeward Bound’s policies and protocols
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated good working habits in an environment that requires multitasking and time management.
- Passion for rescue organizations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing work requiring concentration and manual dexterity
- Bending, stooping and walking daily
