Job Description: STEM Activity Specialist
Overview: Union League Boys and Girls Clubs provides innovative and unique STEM programs for our members. Our goal is to provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities in which our members gain useful 21st Century skills in a collaborative environment to solve real world problems.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The STEM Activity Specialist will provide activity facilitation to Union League Boys & Girls Clubs members and support to the Technology and Science Director. The STEM Activity Specialist will work with Club leadership to identify areas of greatest need for STEM programming and used evidence-based best practices to implement up-to-date curriculums to address these needs.
HOURS:
Monday - Friday, 3pm -7pm
REPORTS TO:
Technology and Science Director
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Facilitate current and evidence-based curriculums to Club members
● Serve as a resource to ULBGC staff to identify best practices around safe usage of technology and programs that meet 21st century STEM skills.
● Work with the Technology and Science Director to develop or attain curriculums that best meet the needs and interests of Club Members and provide feedback on the efficacy of the programs.
● Help plan STEM special events.
● Coach Club members to ensure they are ready for STEM special events
● Assist in managing technology used by ULBGC Club staff and members
● Assist in managing ULBGC technology inventory.
● Contribute to a standards-based, data and results-oriented culture.
● Collaborate with the Technology and Science Director in determining appropriate resources and support for the STEM programs.
● Attend professional development opportunities as assigned by the Technology and Science Director and be ready to present learned information.
● Complete any additional tasks as assigned by theTechnology and Science Director.
Qualifications:
● Staff must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college credits preferred.
● Experience facilitating programming and debriefing activities, STEM activities preferred
● Understanding of the 21st Century STEM needs of youth, especially youth living in under-resourced areas.
● Able to multi-task and keep workspaces clean and organized.
● Comfortable talking with different groups including youth, peers, supervisors, stakeholders, donors, and more.
● Able to work as a team with a diverse group of people.
● Committed to the mission and methodology of Union League Boys & Girls Clubs.
● Ability to plan, model, coach and provide feedback to members to youth.
● Flexibility and empathy while working with youth, peers, and supervisors.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
