Seven Oaks Surgery Center is looking for a Circulating Registered Nurse to care for our patients and facilitate their recovery. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered in the OR. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.

Job Summary
The circulating nurse is responsible for providing care and support to patients during surgery. Nurses also assist the surgeon and the surgical team in their tasks during surgery.
Position Duties
a) Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
b) Assists Scrub Nurse with opening supplies for case, checks oxygen cylinders and other essential equipment.
c) Prepares patient for procedure by taking patient to OR and hooking up patient to EKG monitor, BP monitor, oximeter and applies cautery ground pad if needed.
d) Responsible for helping to relieve patient's apprehension before and during administration of IV sedation or anesthesia. Remains at patient's side during induction and assisting the anesthesia provider when requested.
e) Responsible for surgical prep of operative site and surrounding area. Counts sponges and needles and documents count.
f) Assists in transferring patient to Recovery Area. Assists in cleaning of operating room after a case, when necessary
g) Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team
h) May be called upon to prepare, administers, and record prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
i) Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol. Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
j) Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
k) Participates in staff development, quality assurance and other clinical staff meetings.
l) Provide assistance to clinical staff, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed.
m) Position Duties may change at the discretion of the Clinical Director to meet the needs of Seven Oaks Surgery Center.
Position Characteristics
Circulating nurses must be able to think critically, make confident decisions in a fast-paced clinical environment and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Must present professional image; possess strong work ethic; be well organized; strong interpersonal communications skills; maintain the confidentiality of patient and employee information; must be detail oriented.
Education and Experience
a) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
b) Registered Nurse (RN) with active license in California.
c) One year Operating Room (OR) experience highly preferred
d) ACLS, PALS and BLS certification
e) Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem – solving, and organization.
Lifting Requirements
This position requires repetitive motions (e.g., bending, stooping, twisting, walking, standing, reaching overhead, pushing or pulling). Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail in the midst of other activity.

Pay: $48.00 - $55.00 per hour
