Benefits Assistant Administrator/Accountant
This position will work directly with the Senior Administrator on all Benefit Funds, including self-insured Health and Welfare Plan, Defined Benefit and Defined Contributions Plan and a New York State approved Joint Apprentice Fund.
- Minimum of an Associates in Accounting.
- Familiarity with ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations governing qualified retirement plans and health plans;
- Independently manage several Funds on a regular on-going basis;
- Attends meetings with Board of Trustees, participants, and employer representatives;
- Able to understand and interpret retirement plan documents (advanced level);
- Typically has a strong knowledge of administration and accounting;
- CEBS designation or equivalent experience;
- Contribution processing, including processing payroll contribution files;
- Contribution reconciliation;
- Customer support, including answering phones and email inquiries;
- Assist with plan conversions;
- Meet dept standards for customer service, timing, and quality (i.e. accurate verification of confidential information, maintaining record keeping and compliance with Federal and State Statutes and Regulations, etc.);
- Prepare and audit reports in accordance with established guidelines, timelines, etc;
Other duties or assignments which may be necessary from time-to-time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree in Accounting
- Related experience required in business accounting and/or human resources.
- CEBS certification preferred.
- Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and be comfortable working on complex problems.
- Solid interpersonal skills, judgment, and client service orientation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate;
- Must be flexible; have the ability to work independently and as a team
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access is a plus;
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and employee privacy;
- Must have a desire to learn
Salary will be based upon credentials and experience.
