Job Overview:
Construction Superintendent Trainee Role responsible for overseeing and managing the construction remodels of residential and commercial projects in Houston, working closely under the direct supervision of the General Contractor (GC) or Construction Manager.
Duties:
- Efficiently coordinating contractors and suppliers in a precise sequence and timeline using digital scheduling tools like an iPad or similar systems.
- Directly overseeing approximately 5-10 homes or projects concurrently on average.
- Regularly monitoring contractor and supplier progress, providing updates at least twice daily.
- Conducting on-site visits to each project site at least twice a day, compiling task lists for completion, and distributing them to contractors, suppliers, as well as the General Contractor (GC) or Construction Manager.
- Proactively investigating construction issues and defects, devising effective solutions, and implementing necessary actions.
- Generating detailed Quality Inspection reports from external parties and private home inspectors.
- Managing and executing warranty schedules for closed homes.
- Performing weekly safety inspections to ensure compliance and a secure work environment.
- Utilizing Excel and Word to input and manage project information effectively on computers.
- Future additional duties may include working with utility contractors, Centerpoint, and other front-end development work
- Ideal candidate will have 1 or more years of experience in building single family homes.
- Other duties as assigned or directed
Experience/Qualifications:
- Proficient in maintaining an organized day-to-day schedule
- Possession of a vehicle, preferably a truck
- Demonstrated ability to complete paperwork within deadlines efficiently
- Skilled in collaborating with individuals from diverse educational backgrounds and nationalities
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Exemplary attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- College degree preferred
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Word and Excel; willingness to learn proprietary construction software
- Proactive attitude and driven mindset
- Open to constructive criticism and adaptable to feedback
