CNC Operator/Machinist
This is a new shop in Houston, TX 77047 - Owner is looking for an experienced CNC Operator who is eager to learn and a dedicated team player. The goal is to hire the right candidate to help the shop start on projects and eventually become leaders. Previous industry related experience considered an asset. There is room to grow here and advance into a higher career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC Machine to perform tasks such as Threading pipe, Box and Pin according to API 5CT & RDT SPEC and Turn and Bore on the Box/Upset side of the pipes, etc.
- Machine pipes and components to precise measurements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Set up and operate pipe machining equipment, such as threaders, groovers, grinders, bandsaws and other tools, following technical specifications and blueprints.
- Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust to compensate for problems
- Selects appropriate tools, machines and materials for fabricating
- Handle and respond to after-hours and weekend requests and inquires.
- Inspect all tool components prior to building.
- Document and record all components per procedure.
- Maintain the shop area and yard per shift.
- Send defective tools for rebuild qualifications.
- Will be required to obtain safety training as deemed necessary by the safety department.
Preferred Experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Operations background is preferred but not required
- Previous tubular experience is required
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Motor Assembly experience a plus
- CNC Machine - Manual Lathe
- Experience with dual spindle, dual turret, Y-axis, and bar-fed lathes.
- Oilfield experience preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and precision-driven mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or training preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds
- Stand for long periods of time, between 8-10 hours a day
- Walk/travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), which at a minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots and a hardhat
