Responsible for the preparation of federal and state income tax returns of varying complexity for individuals and businesses. Candidate will also assist clients with estimated tax projections and planning, perform comprehensive bookkeeping functions related to tax preparation and obtain tax research as needed. Foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues is required. Responsible for gathering client information necessary for filing as well as recognizing and communicating potential filing risks with staff and clients. Must possess solid working knowledge of tax software applications to prepare and process filings.
Qualifications Required:
- Candidates must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years+ experience in preparation of Federal and State Individual, Partnership, and Corporate tax returns. Trust and Non-Profit tax return preparation experience is not a must but is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines. Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing workloads. Must thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing shifting priorities.
- A combination of college-level education and experience is acceptable, either in public accounting, or corporate accounting with experience related to financial statement preparation, month-end close, analysis, and strong Excel utilization.
- Ability to work overtime to meet deadlines and work demands during peak periods.
Duties:
- Preparing intermediate and complex tax returns

- Communicating with clients regularly to obtain needed information or provide explanations regarding filings
Software:
Experience needed with Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS, Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Intuit QuickBooks, and Adobe Acrobat. CCH (ProSystem fx, Engagement), and Thomson Reuters Practice Management knowledge a plus.
