General Responsibilities:
One of the nation’s largest and most respected providers of Gastroenterology services, US Digestive Health (USDH) has built an impressive record of growth and performance. The organization has grown rapidly since its inception over five years ago. Headquartered in Exton, PA, USDH includes over 260 providers, 1200 employees and through its practices (divisions) and surgery centers operates over 50 outpatient facilities and ambulatory care access points in Pennsylvania and Delaware. The organization intends to continue to expand at a rapid pace and plans to serve new geographies in the future.
The Regional Operations Director will be a highly visible leader within the organization, responsible for managing a P&L of $40M. This Executive will be responsible for managing practice locations and related administrative & ancillary services across Western Pennsylvania. This role will serve as a day-to-day liaison between the Physician Lead for each aligned division, the MSO team, and other ancillary service leads and third parties. This executive will play a key role in continuing to design and build the platform from which USDH managed a growing footprint of operations.
The current scope of responsibility includes three aligned groups of physician partners, covering 8 practice locations and over 35 providers. This role will require an individual who has the ability to manage operations distributed across a regional geography. Additionally, because Western Pennsylvania is a new geography for USDH, it is anticipated that this scope of aligned providers and practice locations will expand dramatically over the next few years. The ability to onboard new practices and to launch new locations will be critical for the success of this executive.
Qualifications:
Education/Training:
Bachelor of Science in Business or Healthcare Management or commensurate experience.
Master's degree or clinical background/licensure is highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in clinical operations.
Prior experience in a clinical operations management role, including supervisory experience, with fiscal responsibility in a for profit setting.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Proficient in computer programs including excel and word, and prior experience with multiple EMR systems/software
Strong ethical and moral character references
Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in English
Must have experience with budgeting and a demonstrated ability to function as an innovator and change agent
Must be able to develop an effective partnership with physicians and to communicate clearly with patients and all members of the staff
Proven track record of excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead individuals and team to accomplish common goals
Experience working with clinical and administrative leadership to drive strategic/business planning and financial and operational performance.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as function within a team; have the ability to analyze reports, determine priorities, and plan strategies; and must possess the ability to handle this challenging and time-consuming position
Ability to handle frequent interruptions that result in having to re-evaluate priorities, with strong initiative to get daily work finished and processed.
Essential Duties:
Develops, monitors, and controls the staffing needs, and operations.
Develops, updates, and ensures compliance with appropriate departmental policies and procedure manuals for use by staff.
Work in conjunction with the SVP of Operations and Medical Directors in the evaluation and development of existing and new services at the facility.
Ensures that the performance benchmarks and matrix are monitored, and appropriate feedback is given to all stakeholders.
Evaluates staff performance management and reviews/approves progressive disciplinary action, up to and including discharge/termination.
Formulates and continually reassesses plans to reduce barriers to providing access to the highest quality patient service.
Selects, coaches, and develops staff in accordance with USDH policies and procedures.
Ensures that all employees are given an orientation to the organization’s mission and are instilled with a passion of service excellence in how they approach their day to day responsibilities.
Promotes the implementation of positive customer relations by the employees and physicians.
Remains current in changes in the healthcare environment, such as reimbursement, legislative issues and business law, and act accordingly in the best interest of the corporation.
Actively participates and attends all mandatory in-services and committee meetings.
Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers and management and functions as an effective team member.
Respects and protects the patients’ rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patients’ best interest with full consideration of their legal rights.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
May perform other duties as assigned.
