Delta has been retained by a confidential client to conduct a search for the position of SSHO (SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER) in Waco, TX.
SSHO -Site Safety and Health Officer Compensation & Benefits
Total compensation for the SSHO -Site Safety and Health Officer is $85,000 per year, and total compensation including benefits, allowances, and bonus far exceed the base salary.

SSHO -Site Safety and Health Officer Duties & Responsibilities
- The SSHO is responsible for the overall safety management of the projects, and requirements for the position include ensuring safety per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) specifications and EM385-1-1.
- The position requires presence at the project site at all times during progress of work and the incumbent has complete authority and responsibility to take an action necessary to ensure contract compliance.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
- Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.
- Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Reviewing project submittals for all assigned construction projects, specifically including the contractor project safety plan.
- Identifying and facilitating mitigation of work site risks.
- Collecting deficiency information.
- Regular reporting of risks, deficiencies, trends and improvements for each project.
SSHO -Site Safety and Health Officer Qualifications
- OSHA 30 card with general industry or construction experience required.
- 5 years of continuous construction safety experience along with supervising/managing of general construction required.
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Environmental Health, or related field is desired.
- Completion of the course entitled Construction Quality Management for Contractors or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
- Skill in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, 1910, and USACE EM-385-1-1
- Completed the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety course or ability to complete within 30 days of hire.
- A comprehensive understanding of the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
