Job Title: Field Technician III (VSAT)
Location: Global (extensive travel required)
Job Type: Full-Time, 10/4 rotation (10 days on, 4 days off)
$63 base salary
Job Summary:
Seeking a Field Technician III to install, repair, and maintain VSAT systems for clients in Energy, Mining, and Maritime industries. This role involves extensive travel, including international trips and frequent overnight stays.
Responsibilities:
VSAT System Support:
- Install/troubleshoot fixed, stabilized, and auto-acquire VSAT systems.
- Manage equipment: wireless access points, VoIP phones, antenna control units, satellite modems, RF equipment, UPS systems, solar power systems.
- Perform telecom duties: use BER testers, spectrum analyzers, wire circuits, repair equipment.
- Conduct maintenance and repair of VSAT hardware.
- Interpret engineering drawings.
- Complete installation plans and documentation.
- Provide remote customer support and resolve network issues.
- Train and mentor junior technicians.
Buildout/Configuration:
- Assemble and configure VSAT systems.
- Conduct pre-commissioning tests.
- Test, program, and repair land mobile communications equipment.
- Prepare and dispatch equipment.
General Duties and HS&E:
- Complete job documentation promptly.
- Comply with company procedures and vehicle maintenance.
- Promote safety and conduct risk assessments.
- Report and investigate incidents.
Requirements:
Skills:
- Knowledge of stabilized antenna systems (SeaTel, Intellian, Orbit).
- Proficiency with iDirect NMS IDX, Comtech Satellite Modems, Cisco routers, switches, IP routing, switching, security, VoIP.
- Use of spectrum analyzers.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Electrical safety and offshore safety knowledge.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
Experience:
- Associate's degree in IT, Telecommunications, Communications, or related field.
- 5+ years in remote communications (onshore/offshore).
Certifications:
- Bosiet, offshore Medical, MIST, Emergency Breather System (EBS) required; SafeGulf and SEMS preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Pass a physical exam and BOISET training.
- Work extended hours in remote environments.
- Pass drug and alcohol screenings.
Travel:
- 90% travel, including offshore and international by boat and aircraft.
