POSITION TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE TECHNICIAN
DEPARTMENT: Inspection & Compliance Program
LOCATION: Dinuba, CA
REPORTS TO: District Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: $21.00/hour to $23.00/hour
The Cooperative Agricultural Support Services (CASS) is a Joint Powers Authority that was originally formed as a partnership between the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the Counties of Yolo and Trinity. Since then, CASS’ services have expanded throughout California to support the agricultural industry and the consumers of its products by providing human resources and administrative support services. CASS’ program activities include agricultural inspection, pest prevention and other programs administered by CDFA, county agricultural commissioners, and other public agencies. Our current work includes:
Agricultural Commodity Grading Program- Grading using County, State and Federal standards
- Emergency Pest Detection Trapping and Survey program
- Professional Develop and Educational Training
CASS is seeking an eager and devoted Administrative Technician who will provide office/administrative support to the District Supervisor and the Dinuba office within our Inspection and Compliance Program.
Requirements:
- Must have advanced Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook skills

Must have 2-3 years prior office experience

Must possess strong organizational skills

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; some college is preferred.

Must work well under pressure, work independently and cooperatively with other staff members

Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record during the course of employment

Generate reports and review data for analysis
-
Prepare various documents including personnel files, account files, reports, etc.

Attend meetings and take notes relating to the meeting for use by the team

Prepare and enter travel claims for state staff
-
Prepare and correct payroll by assigned deadlines

Record and secure BIQMS

Prepare samples for titration (sugar/acid ratio) testing and pressure testing to determine the degree of ripeness

Examine the quality, size, and/or condition of selected samples using state, federal, or industry standards

Maintain daily reports of work completed, i.e., inspection note sheets, Inspector's Daily Report
STAFF SUPPORT:
- Prepare personnel documents for inspectors and process inspector’s daily reports, expense claims, and accounting reports
- Record and secure BIQMS forms as required.
- Make copies of certificate data, and note sheets, and file district copies appropriately.
- Dispatch work assignments as they come up.
- Prepare and correct payroll by assigned deadlines.
- Prepare and enter travel claims for state staff.
- Prepare miscellaneous correspondence; proof documents for format, spelling, and grammar.
- Answer questions and provide support to applicants, and field and office staff inquiries regarding customer accounts by telephone and/or fax.
DATA INPUT AND ANALYSIS:
- Generate a variety of reports
- Prepare a variety of documents and correspondence with applicants, employees, CASS, and SPI staff.
- Ability to independently input and interpret data for payroll, accounting, and/or budgeting functions.
