POSITION: Behavioral Health Technician
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Overnights: 11PM - 7AM
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Operations
POSITION/INDIVIDUALS SUPERVISED: None
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Behavioral Health Tech is a vital member of the treatment center team. The Behavioral Health Tech is under the supervision of the Director of Operations and is responsible for the complete care and well being of the clients while they are in treatment, as well as to record and communicate patient behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATION/LICENSURE: High school diploma or GED
If a candidate is a recovering alcoholic or addict, must have 1 year of continuous sobriety prior to hire.
2. EXPERIENCE: Preferred at least 12 months experience working in the substance abuse or mental health field but not required. Hourly salary dependent upon experience.
3. KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING
Some knowledge of addiction and mental health issues.
4. REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE:
Basic knowledge of 12-Step Recovery Programs
Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes:
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
- Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
- Confidentiality
- Patient Rights
- Professional Code of Ethics
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
-Ability to pass a pre employment drug screen.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
1. Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
2. Follows Infection guidelines at all times.
3. Completes and forwards copy of Incident Reports and any other staff/risk issues immediately to director.
4. Attend all staff meetings and attend all mandatory In-services.
5. Provide a safe therapeutic environment for clients and staff.
6. Provides supervision of self-administered medications.
- Oversee implementation of daily/weekly structure for community housing clients as developed by director of operations
- Maintain a positive working relationship with staff and consumers alike.
9. Reports personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to director.
10. Monitor and observe clients’ behavior with documentation and count and keep track of all clients with documentation.
11. End of shift reporting to director via email.
12. Answer calls on company phone while on shift.
13. Report any medical emergencies, elopements or ACA incidents to director immediately.
14. Assist clients in getting access to outside activities, food shopping, 12 step support groups, and appointments through public transportation methods as needed.
15. Orients new clients to the facility and the residential facility. Completing a complete housing intake packet and ensuring all documents are signed.
16. Search new admissions belongings to ensure no contraband is brought into facility, and all valuables and medications are secured.
17. Preparing residential apartments for new clients, ensuring cleanliness.
18. To request and report any supplies needed at facility and residential facility to director.
19. Ensure that all apartments are kept clean and direct clients to clean as necessary.
20. Follow ethical guidelines in accordance with state laws.
21. Keeping tech offices in a clean and neat order at all times.
22. Provide safety checks at apartments and reporting any risks to director.
23. Provide “random” searches at residential checking for contraband.
24. Monitor clients’ curfews and ensure they are abiding by all rules.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
