Star Leaf Asian Cuisine is a group of fine-dining Asian restaurants with the newest location opened at E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, California together with 43 locations in operation in Asia, totally catering to 3.5 million customers every year globally by 1,300 employees.
The most recent opening in California begins the first restaurant of the next 12 restaurants to be opened in three years in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior HR Office Manager to join our team at Star Leaf. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in HR management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
This role requires a thorough understanding of California's employment laws and food and beverage regulations, proficiency in basic computer applications, and strong leadership skills. Proficiency in Spanish & Mandarin is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities: HR Management:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly California-specific laws.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures.
- Assist in the onboarding process of new employees.
- Conduct daily onsite time clock/hours checks to ensure compliance with local labor laws.
- Handle employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
- Manage employee records and ensure data accuracy.
Operational Support:
- Assist with payroll processing.
- Assist with administering employee benefits and compensation as outlined in HR policies. Develop goals for the HR team and monitor progress.
- Oversee compensation structures and ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices
- Coordinate performance management processes and assist in planning/implementing performance evaluations.
- Overseeing staff attendance and absence monitoring. Providing detailed HR reports to senior management teams
Compliance and Safety:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food and beverage regulations.
- Ensure workplace safety and compliance with health and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to policies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of HR management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in Mandarin and Spanish is highly preferred. Both spoken and written
- In-depth knowledge of California employment laws and food and beverage regulations.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Office and POS systems.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
