Seeking candidates with a positive attitude and ability to be a team player. Duties include preparation of patients for exams including taking history, accurate recording of medications, performing various eye tests, diagnostic imaging and other duties as assigned. Ophthalmic Assistants work closely with our ophthalmologist and PA gathering patient information necessary to complete patient visits. Job duties include (but not limited to):
- Work in the EMR to document patient chief complaints and other requirements for insurance purposes (4 elements, etc.)
- Basic medical knowledge for history taking (i.e. surgeries, medication dosages, etc.)
- Take a clear and concise history
- Check VA
- Check confrontation visual fields
- Check Pupils for abnormalities
- Check IOP
- Check color vision when appropriate
- Scribing
- Be able to do basic ophthalmic triage
- Be able to provide excellent customer service and show dedication for patient care
Minimum 1 year of experience in Ophthalmology is required. COA or COT Certification is preferred, but we are willing to assist you with obtaining the certification. We will provide on the job training for a serious candidate who has a can-do attitude. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a stable career.
